Schoolwide Tardy Sweeps

Schoolwide Tardy Sweeps

Dear La Quinta High School families,

Our staff would like to thank each of our families for a positive start to the 2021-2022 school year. We are excited to have our students back in classrooms where positive relationships are built and where students learn best. To maximize students' academic potential, our students must be in class on time. To aid in every La Quinta High School student's academic journey, we are introducing a new tardy process.

Beginning Monday, November 1, our staff will engage in a schoolwide tardy sweep during periods 1-6. The same tardy sweep will occur during periods 1-6 on Tuesday, November 2. These first two days are reserved for informational purposes and will not result in a consequence.

Over the three remaining days of that week, our administrative staff will facilitate three more random tardy sweeps. Every student involved in the tardy sweep will be assigned after school detention for that day. The detention will be held at the lunch tables from 3:40 to 4:25 p.m. La Quinta High School will continue these random sweeps for the remainder of the school year.

Our greatest challenge has been getting our students to their first period classes in a timely manner. Our gates open promptly at 7:50 a.m. each morning. Students have 40 minutes to enter and report to their first period classes. Please feel free to contact us at 760-772-4150 if you have any additional questions or concerns.

The staff here at La Quinta High School would like to thank each family for their continued support.
